Hall of Fame Part 1: John Madden

My first rant is about the freaking Hall of Fame in Football. 1st of all John Madden. All sorts of idiots on ESPN were saying Madden didn’t belong in as a coach or a Announcer. Come on. He belongs in on both counts. 1st as a coach.

  • Has the highest winning percentage of any coach with 100 or more wins.
  • He got to 100 wins in only Ten Seasons of coaching, when the NFL only played 14 Regular Season games. He averaged 10.3 wins a season. That’s the equivalent of a Coach averaging 11.77 wins a season these days. That’s pretty impressive.
  • He did win a SuperBowl back in the 70’s back when the Steelers were winning 4.
  • His record was pretty good against other Hall of Fame coaches of that era.

You can’t tell me any good reason to keep him out as a coach after that can you?

2nd as an announcer. He’s the most recognizable in football, and also calls a more exciting game then pretty much anyone. I mean the former players bring some nice analysis but it’s pretty dry; and the sports announcer type just do more play by play. Madden tells all about everything you could think of. Which some people hold against him, but it makes the game more interesting to watch. My second rant is going to be about Art Monk…..
